Ferrari
Ferrari created the Special Projects Program in 2008 as a program aimed at creating unique models featuring an exclusive design designed according to the client's requirements. Since then, the department has stunned the world with some of the most spectacular cars. Now, the list will include a new model - SP51. Just like Omulgata, SP51 is designed on the Ferrari 812 platform. It is the result of a collaboration between Ferrari's own projects department and Ferrari's Chief Design Officer, Flavio Manzoni, and was designed for a private client from Taiwan.
Unique design
SP51 is defined by a sleek exterior design that has been constantly placed in an air tunnel and a dynamic test to make sure it will provide the best aerodynamic features. It was finished in a new three-layer Rosso Passionale paint designed specifically for this model, along with blue and white stripes inspired by the 1955 Ferrari 410 S.
Interestingly, this unique car has no roof, and although it is based on the 812 GTS, it features some exclusive elements. For example, both headlights and taillights are specifically designed for SP51, the grille is larger and features exposed carbon fiber, while the hood has two huge air vents. The SP51 is mounted on special wheels featuring a sophisticated diamond-cut finish, as well as a carbon fibre spoiler. According to Ferrari, this design is inspired by the mathematical prototypes of the sixties.
Elegant and luxurious cabin
The interior is carefully designed according to the wishes of the client. The main edges of Alcantara are the same color as Rosso Passionale like the outside, while the white and blue ribbon appears on the central tunnel and the façade between the two seats. The same color combination was used in the stitching of the steering wheel. Blue Kvadrat fillers with intersecting white seams are placed on the door panels, the bottom of the dashboard, and the sides of the seats.
The same extraordinary power
While the exterior and interior may be different, under the hood you'll find the same 6.5-liter V-12 engine as the 812 GTS. While no specifications have been revealed, we assume they offer the same power of 789 horsepower and 720 Nm of torque. The 812 GTS engine accelerates from 0 to 97 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, But we expect SP51 to be a little slower. However, the top speed should remain at the same 340 kilometers per hour. Ferrari did not mention any technical modifications from the 812 GTS platform for this unique car, but the company explained that the process takes about two years, and that it makes the customer participate in a way that cannot be compared to the traditional process of customization.
